Dance

Crazy time of the sem has surely descended upon us, even a slack and lazy me can feel the pressure. haha, tests everyweek and huge deadlines looming :/

i prob should be writing my 30% essay, but i was talking to my dance partner and he said he broke his finger on his right hand. omg. thank goodness we're not competing this weekend else we're doomed.

anyway, i quite like our rumba routine so far. the first time we did a stunt together, i was really worried, cos he is long and lean and i wasnt sure if he can support my weight. the stunt involves only my neck lying on his arm, and he drops me all the way until a short distance off the floor. so thank goodness he's actually pretty strong.

I think it's quite interesting to dance together cos he's a very soft dancer. i think he might even be softer than me. he has to teach me how to soften my back. hahah, there is the danger of us looking flimsy when we dance together, and i have to consciously remind myself to put more energy into it cos i can't tap on his energy. But he's got very nice posture and a very comfortable lead, though he says i grip his hand too tight and hurt his fingers oops. haha

probably we'll only debut end of the year or even next year? haha we're both so busyyyy and only get to dance once a week max. i guess no point rushing to compete when we're not ready.

i am fortunate to have managed to find someone who's at a similar level of dance... i just kinda hope this partnership works out for the longer term....

.. and I've wasted a good 2 hours watching dance videos while typing this... oops!!!!

back to work :((((

crystal jade's xiao long bao and steamboat buffet

I've heard soo much about this buffet and today i finally had a chance to try it for myself on a date with C and G

There are three slots you can choose from, 5pm, 7pm and 10pm. For weekends, its 25++ for the  5pm and 7pm slot and 21++ for 10pm slot. It's 2 dollars cheaper on weekdays. It's quite hard to get a slot, so book early if you wanna go!

First they let you choose a soup base! we picked a hot and spicy soup and a pork bone soup

the soup is super delicious. omgoodness!!! so yummy!!! i thought the hot and spicy one was really a bit too hot but my friends loved it more than the pork bone soup.

free flow of lots of ingredients except each person is only allowed 100g of prawns! everything was really fresh. and i lovedddd the sliced pork.

the beef was surprisingly not nice. haha, it was too much fat, too little meat.

we also ordered 3 baskets of xiao long baos. i can't believe we didn't eat more, but the steamboat was too good to ignore, even for xiao long bao

the sweetcorn is delicious, i dont usually eat corn boiled, but this corn is crunchy and very sweet and tasty!

yum yum!!! so much food cooking inside!!!

i think it was a really good meal, it justifies the many rave reviews i've heard about it. only thing is that we should have gone for a weekday buffet instead. no point paying extra for weekends when we can do weekdays haha. and we dont eat prawns or a lot of meat, so would have been good to go with some prawn lovers who can have our prawns haha

oh and it's not conducive for talking and chatting, it's super noisy in there!!! haha more like for a happy gathering kinda thing

and don't wear white!!! cos we're bound to spill something on our clothes!!!

so full and happy with food! (:

and my tickets to christchurch are booked for 27th july -20 august! gotta work very hard to complete all the necessary ground work before i go there, so that i can complete all the necessary field work in time.

Christchurch

Do I love Christchurch because I was there, or because you are there?

It's a question I asked myself as I write my honors thesis proposal.I am going to write my HT about Christchurch place marketing after the earthquake. sometimes i feel like im bubbling over with happy thoughts when i do my research on chch.

I think to many, i'm a little crazy! the inconvenience of doing an overseas HT are so many, i have limited opportunity to conduct my field work, danger of being unfamiliar with my field sites, being unable to get local informants etc. and i'm going to risk 15module credits on a HT topic that is so farrr awayyyy. if i dont get my fieldwork done, i'm a dead duckie.

yet the thought of it makes me very happy!!! and very exciteddd!! and that's always a good thing for doing research!! excited researchers do good fieldwork! haha :D i can't wait to go back to christchurch!!!

the topic actually really also excites me, i honestly think its a very fresh topic since the quakes were pretty recent. and it's so exciting to study closely how the face of Christchurch is changing! i will get to explore parts of chch that i previously didn't!!!

i also can't really believe that i've cleared most of the major hurdles to this. i've been planning this for ages, but it had always seemed more like a wistful dream rather than reality.

My parents have approved my plans and are willing to let me have krisflyer miles to redeem an airticket!
Scholarship board have approved my attachment leave for me to go
Professor has approved my research topic
i've been working and saving money so i have funds to go!

so i am pretty much cleared to go!!! unless i write a really crappy HT proposal that makes the prof feel that i don't know what i'm going there to do. so i have to work hard on my proposal that is due 27th march!

I can't wait to eat all my favorite foods (pies and fish n chips), and see my favorite person in NZ. ((((:

He is going to accompany me to the tourist sites in chch, like the parks and the markets ! ((: and he will make mash potatoes and green tea for me :D

sometimes its good to think crazy! if i didn't i wouldnt be headed back down south, would i? ((:

aerial photoshoot

I should really study when I have spare pockets of time, instead of lazing on the couch the whole of yesterday evening.

I thought  I would be at home today studying, at least in the day time. But it turned out to be so hectic!!!

Received an early morning message from C at 9plus am, and she told me she was casted in the scdf dance advert! she asked me to accompany her at 11am at marina bay! so happy for her! but i was still rolling in bed and totally unprepared to go out yet, so i told her to have fun!!!

was halfway through doing my notes for tourism geog when i received news about a casting call for the Aveda hair show, so i went down. so last minute! but i guess it's good that i've been to previous casting calls, so i knew what to expect and didn't seem so silly this time. It was just the basic front-45-90-back mugshot and full length photos they wanted to take. and yay! i got through to the second round!! I will be going down to the official Aveda casting next week where the hairstylist will look at my hair and think about what styles they might want to cut/colour it and whether my hair is suitable for the show

after the casting, rushed down to meet C after she was done with her filming and went for our photoshoot with our fav photographer (:

We were doing aerial shots today, and we happened to bring similar long-short skirts!!

Aerial ropes is much more painful, and much harder to do than aerial silks, and we both left with rope burns and bruises from swinging into the lights on the side. haha but it was fun!! It's actually only my 2nd or 3rd  time doing a studio shoot, cos I seem to always have been shooting outdoors. haha

first we got our make up done by the make up artist! (:  it was a day/dancer make up for C and a much heavier tribal looking cat eye for me lols.

We did some splits in mid air! i almost killed myself balancing on two chairs in a center split off the ground. hahah

and some post shoot shots taken on iphone!!

see our matchy match skirts? we did a super cool shot with it, which i will upload next time! hahah
and she brought me sweets from london and omgoshhhhh macarons from paris!!! love !!!!

Couple Apps

Being in an LDR has made me much more phone savvy, and I have new apps and chats to use! hahah
shall share about two new ones!

1. Between

Between is a really cutesy app! haha, it only allows us to connect one on one, and is full of cute fluffy looking stickers (: I like the layout too, cos it's like a homepage, where you can have a date that tracks the number of days in ur rship, and you can set a homepage photo too!

There's also a memo box where you can store your favourite photos and memos (:

Look at how cute the stickers are :D

2. Couple
Couple is fun cos it has live sketching! means you can draw on the same memo together! which is very fun! (: there is also thumbkiss, which means if you put your fingers on the same spot together, the screen turns red as a thumbkiss. :D

they certainly make life more fun than a standard whatsapp. hahah, we use wechat too, which is great for sending voice messages (:

an app for every different function. hehe
