happy mid recess week

Happy mid recess week! (: okay, it's thursday but still (:

I have been blessed with a lot of good things recently (:

firstly, i received a generous offer regarding my part time work at VB, and thus, i am still there for half a day a week to do my editorials. (:

Received two complimentary emails from a villa owner and my colleague about my writing. Small things like that really make a person's day.

and... i got my first choice of HT advisor!!! He's a reallyyy popular prof, and i never dreamt i'd really be one of the 4 students working under him! I am pretty thrilled, especially since d my topic is on 'Impacts of Christchurch Earthquake on Sense of Place and Mobilities in Christchurch City'

I am pleased as punch (: If i am researching something i like, it'll be less painful to write the 12,000 words.

I wishhhh with all my heart i could go to chch and visit z.

 can you believe it's recess week already? 6 weeks of school has gone by, and i'm left with the final 6 weeks of school before i take my exams and finish my third year! how fast that is! :o

I still miss NZ and the chill culture of it, and especially miss the weather, but i certainly love that Singapore has so much more to explore, especially in terms of food! :D eating out is so expensive in NZ


Lunch with S and T
S, T and I met up for a girl's lunch, cos T is flying off to China soon for a work trip. We visited a nice Italian restaurant, and the staff there were so nice! We bought groupons, but we forgot to print them out, but the manager said we could just send the groupons to him and he would print it out for us. how sweet of them (:

 wrong sequence of food, but here's our choc molten lava cake. The cake was a lil dry i felt. haha

 I really enjoyed the carbonara, i always enjoy creamy noodles, as long as they are shared, because it does feel clogging after a while

 meatball pizza was generous with meatballs as you can see (:



Catch up with xiu and linh
Met my JC friends L and X for dinner! We were playing with phone apps, and these are the results that L created! hahaha

whilst waiting for L to arrive, I went to buy a cupcake from Plain Vanilla bakery, because i've heard about the hype surrounding it. It is certainly not cheap, costin 3.50 for one small cupcake, but i decided to try out the milk chocolate chip cupcake

I enjoy choc ganache, but this one was really too sweet. They were also generous with the milk choc bits inside, so it just felt extremely sweet. The cupcake wasn't as moist as Twelve-cupcake's cupcakes. haha so i felt it wasn't worth it. But my friend says that salted caramel flavour is really good.

We had a yummy bowl of ramen, look at the gooey eggs haha. i can't believe i haven't seen L for 2-3 years when we used to hang out everyday in school! it's been tooo long, especially since we are both in NUS! but oh well, good to catch up, and it's great that conversation still flows like we just saw each other last week. haha i miss L's Vietnamese accent, hahah




I managed to catch lunch with germs this week as well, we see each other pretty often since we're in the same thai tutorial, but cos my schedule is back to back, i hardly have time to talk to her outside of class anyway. There is a new western stall at the deck which is sooo good! love the salads, the dory fish etc

the queue is always incredibly long, but since we had time, it was nice and leisurely, talking about viva and dance. (:

 this chef's salad is not bad, but the mango chicken salad is really a must try!!!

Casual Photoshoot and Latin Dance Fashion Show

Had a very busy weekend since Z left me to go home to nz ):

but i've kept myself pretty busy!!!

Well, since Z left on 13th feb, we celebrated vday much earlier when he came to visit me!

So since i was free on the 14th, i went to work hehe (: i was working at palm beach seafood restaurant as an alcohol promoter, and it was actually quite fun! just pouring drinks and running around serving drinks, and the pay was good too!

the next day, i went for a photoshoot with my favorite photographer. C was supposed to join me as well, but she had an emergency to attend too.We were supposed to do a doll themed shoot, but too bad it was raining so hard just after i'd completed all the make up!

So we switched to do some indoor shots, and when it cleared up, we went to do some last minute outdoor shots. the pics are all still processing, but he kindly edited two for me immediately as sneak peeks. haha (:

i love how his pics are artistic, and not just normal posey stuff. i love silhouette shots!!! He suggested that i should take up some blogshop modelling, but i honestly don't think that'll work out well for me, because i am not that face photogenic. i look better just doing movement shots.

and after photoshoot, i went for catwalk rehearsals at the dance studio. and today was the fashion show. i really had fun! also getting to know the viva juniors who were in the show too.

haha, the fashion show was an awesome experience for me, was a lil nervous at the start, but it was so much fun!!

and  the cherry on my cake was that after the show, teacher S asked if i model professionally, and both teacher M and S said that they thought I walked well. I respect them even though i don't train under them, and so that was a big compliment for me!!! (I wish Z was around to watch me though)

there should be a youtube video soon, i do wanna see how it looked, everyone did prac hard for it, and everyone looked really nice!!!

So yessss, even though I miss Z terribly, I still had an awesome week, with so much to occupy me, and so much fun things to do!!!

and maybe i should start studying soon? haha

happy chinese new year ! even though cny is prob not one of my favourite hols, but its good to have holidays anytime


last date with z before he goes back to nz on wednesday! :/

i bought this fake donut kit, whereby it's like edible playdough, and you can mould the donuts and add sprinkles and real nuts. it was quite fun to me, but a little kiddy. haha

my donuts are complete with strawberry and choc frosting, and rainbow sprinkles!

 they look almost good enough to eat close up

and we had dinner at ma maison, a french japanese fusion restaurant, and one of my favourite places, cos it's so cozy and homely.

this is beef stroganoff with an omelette wrapped over butter rice

 i love this doria, which is like tomato rice, with cream pasta and sauce over it.

a nice date before we spend the rest of the year (at least) apart. haha

pique nique

 finally got to try out antoinette's little sister, pique nique. (: pique nique is a much more casual cafe than antoinette, which has a very posh, elegant setting that can be a little overly rich for just a simple meal. haha

and of course, it was girl talk time! i haven't seen them in like... 6 weeks?!

we are much smarter now and always order two mains to share, cos T and S are such small eaters!!! even with only 2 mains, they both couldn't finish!

 goulash spaghetti was alright, the beef was nice and tender and quite tasty, it reminded me of beef stroganoff that was thicker in consistency. would have liked if they added potatoes and carrots, like in real goulash stew. haha

 the shrooms burger was pretty nice! the patty was nice and thick, and moist. the fries were awesome!!!

and look at how they arranged the chilli, ketchup and mayo! i accidentally uploaded it upside down, but it's so nicely decorated. haha
