maybe king david is quite cool after all

today i decided that i kinda like king david after all.

if you dont know, king david counts as one of my least favourite bible heroes. cos i think he's quite bad at times, committing all the worst kind of sins, and causing his children to stumble as well.

but,i realised that its very proud of me to think that king david is a lousy bible hero.

the essence of king david's story, to me now, is probably:

1. a reminder about how any of us can easily stumble and fall into sin
if even King david, who was such a warrior for God can stumble, any of us can stumble. Therefore, there shouldnt be room for us to judge, rather we should be helping those who have fallen, back up and close to God again.

2. the importance of response to God's discipline

the reason why david is called a man after God's own heart, is probably because he always confessed his sin, and repented and sought God again. when we sin, we tend to either run away from God and hide because of guilt, or ignore God until we become numb to sin. both of which are bad responses. although of course, it would be better not to step into sin in the first place, it will be inevitable at some point of our lives, and what's most important is our response to the realisation that it is sin.

3. the extent of God's grace

and the most amazing thing about david's story, is probably God.
God is always waiting for us to come back to Him, He never gives up on us, and He always has grace to extend to us. and God always works things out for His glory, and for the good of those who love Him, even when we've gone off course and sinned.

God's grace and love is abundant and overflowing, His love covers over a multitude of sin. Thank God for that!!!

so many things have happened, and i haven't always made the best choices, sometimes cos im confused, but sometimes, i think i even purposely chose to disobey.

well, i just pray that whatever has been happening in my life will soften and deepen my heart, to drive me home to God, to teach me to love people more, to be less judgmental and proud.

The months aged me remarkably,
Though they have not made me wise;
I do know I erred irrevocably -
For that I apologize.

whatever happens, whatever i've done, i want to always choose to come back to You.
A broken spirit and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.
