It was so cool that we could drive in and out of Slovakia because of porous borders, so we decided to make the most of it, and head to slovakia for a day.
We found a hostel for 10 euros, super cheap!
and this is the town centre, not sure why, but it was very dead and quiet
there aren't even much restaurants, the only restaurants are those attached to hotels. maybe we weren't in a touristy part of town.
a cellar like restaurant, prices are really cheap. mains cost like 3 or 4 euros! (1 euro = 1.7 sgd)
soup with batter drops
fish with fried potatoes and salad
crepes with jam and ice cream! I am so obsessed with crepes i tell you. i keep hunting them down.
and the next day, we arrived too early at a restaurant and they were kind enough to open half an hour earlier for us! we left a bigger tip haha
I had been saying i didn't need to eat, i wasn't hungry, i could just have biscuits.
but look at how much i ordered in the end!! hahaha my friend was ready to kill me, because anything i can't finish, he has to
banana crepes with chocolate sauce and honey
sausages with bread
omelette with peas and mushrooms
potato pancakes!
and then we headed over to the UNESCO heritage site, the Spis castle (: it's sitting all desolate and whimsical on a hilltop, just like a picture out of a fairytale
the castle walls
castle kitchen !
and some armour haha, probably recreated. i doubt real armour would have lasted so long
recreated castle bedroom
and dungeons!
more time we spent admiring the view, the vista beyond, and the beauty of these ruins.
and taking some pictures of course (:
and whilst we were driving back to Poland, we stopped for pictures at a lookout point. It's so perfect and magnificent. sigh i miss the mountains and snow.
love,
shermine
