Goodbye 2012

So its 13 minutes to 2013!

It's been a bittersweet year for me, many exciting things happen, and many sad things as well, but most importantly, i think that this year i really pushed myself out of my comfort zone, did things that I wanted to, dared to try things i would not have dreamt of doing. So it's all worth it i think (:


Here's a list of 10 milestones, highlights, achievements of my 2012

1. Eldon

My first and only partnership-relationship. There were many highlights and things that I learnt about myself through it, and I am also grateful for everything that happened. I am glad that we parted as friends and are both happy with new loves! (: 

2. Pre-Am Champion!!! 

I am really reallyyyy grateful to have this medal, especially since I might have to stop latin for good. Pre-Am champion is a decent last medal i think. was so elated to get that, it was a real milestone for me in my dancing life. Even if i never get to dance again, I can tell grandkids next time I did okay in latin. hahah (:

3. Thailand 

2 trips to thailand this year, lucky me :D and i'm totally in love with thailand! (: love the culture, language, and the quirks of thailand. so much i learnt from the people there.

4. NZ

of course NZ was a big part of 2012, it was 4 mths out of the whole year! NZ was a really wonderful relaxing 4 mths, in which i was utterly lazy and still did okay in school. haha, wonderful weather after i got over the initial brain freeze, and love cooking my own rice and veggies and managing my own life in general (((:

5. Photoshoots

Of course, i'm glad i did the photoshoots. a few months back, i posted a self shot of me in my red gown, and said that i would achieve all my dreams, starting with this gown. And i really did it (: i am very proud of myself for carrying through with what i said.

i enjoy photoshoots that are artistic (: i still do (:

6. Pageant

Of course, this links to the pageant. Without the photoshoots i did, i wouldnt have been able to join the pageant. haha, and i carried through with the pageant despite all the difficulties, and finished it all the way to the grand finals. i am glad to be able to say that i had the guts to join a pageant, and be one of the finalists. the experience was a memorable one.

7. Commercial Dancing

I am also pleased to say that i have been accepted into a commercial dancing troupe that puts up shows for events with latin, and contemporary themes. it's a well known name in the singapore salsa social scene,
 haha i haven't taken any assignments yet but i am pleased enough just to be taken in.

8. Editorial Internship

Completed my first editorial internship, with offer of freelance work next year, as well as external freelance writing contracts (: very pleased with how my editorial sideline is growing, and hopefully it will lead to new opportunities next year (:

9. Taiwan

Headed to Taiwan in just a couple of hours! i am so lucky to be able to travel so much this year (: will update about my trip again!

10. Z

Of course, Z is the highlight of my 2012 (: Even though i dont get to see him often, but the times of seeing him are enough to compensate for the times he isn't around. Someday, it would be nice to live in the same country again haha. So glad to have met him (:


 
 i will definitely continue to let myself have new experiences all the time (:

as for me, 2012 has been an awesome year full of unexpected surprises and I am sure that 2013 will be full of new adventures and new memories to be created!

New Year's Eve

Let me update about yummy things i have eaten. haha

last day of editorial internship was today! we went to a vietnamese restaurant for lunch together last week one last time, and it was yummy! i had spicy pho!



catch up dinner date with C at a herbal soup place!


went to the handburger today to meet jess and xiu for lunch and catch up! managed to catch jess before she fly again! is always good to relive old jc days haha

Z's Pre Christmas visit

Z came to Singapore to celebrate pre christmas with me (:

shall just sum up the main highlights of our adventure the past 4 days :D

1. we caught two movies!

we watched Chinese Zodiac 2012 and Les Miserables! both were really awesome movies, totally worth watching ((: i cried like mad during les mis as well, hahah so saddd!


2. Picnic

we had an amazingly short picnic together. hahah lasted about... 40 minutes?

we had subway breakfast and fed ducks and swans with the bread crusts. haha


the swans were really close to us !




the bird shit on our picnic mat, and i spent the last few minutes sitting with an umbrella :D hahah

got Z to wipe it off the mat hehe

picnic plans were ended after we complained too hot, i complained too many millepedes and creepy crawlies

and we ended up at air conditioned holland village crystal jade for dimsum. hahahah, yummy xiao long baos.


and we also played the weirdest ever 'rabbit' game by drawing rabbits on the table with wet tissue.


3. Pre Christmas Celebration Dinner @ IDLE at Dempsey hill

 we had a really nice dinner on 23rd (:


starters was garlic potato soup


followed by sea bass for me


lamb shank for him


and molten choc cake!

it's always nice to enjoy a nice meal together, and chit chat. really appreciate him taking the train for almost 7 hrs just to come here and here and be with me for a couple of days. (:

food was great, ambience was nice, company was awesome!!!

I reached home and showered and am in front of the com by 7pm today.

That's amazing!!! I can safely say that since two weeks ago, i haven't been home in time for dinner yet. Usually reach home 11ish.

Good to have some rest, i hope this weekend with Z will be relatively peaceful and chill out. haha

Met my favourite girls yesterday for our early Christmas dinner together. (:

It's been so awesome that a year has flown by so fast, and we have changed so much, and so many things have happened to each of us, both good and bad. Just glad that we're better friends than ever, and really appreciate everything with them (:

We commented that our outings became a lot more 'atas' this year. hahah, perhaps cos they've started to work.

We went to PS cafe for dinner, it was really pretty atmosphere


 so romantic (: and a lot of expats in the area

We ordered a Caesar salad and a chicken main dish to share cos we wanted to save space for dessert


the salad was really very good. it was big too, with a poached egg and bacon in it. and really delicious!


the chicken on the other hand, wasn't so worth it. not particularly tender or tasty, just okay. the truffle fries and mash were very yums though! but i could be biased towards potatoes hahah



group pic as always! i love group pics, cos they remind us of where we have been, and all the outings we had together. haha, we didn't take pics in the beginning and i think it was quite a waste we didn't have those.
it's always nice to look back and see how we've changed!


and gift exchange as we did last year as well haha (:
 i now have a super nice smelling crabtree and evelyn hand lotion as well as a useful perfume travel bottle which is in my fav colour red! :D


after chilling for a while, we headed off to an italian place to get dessert. i forgot the name, but it's very traditional italian


souffle was SO GOOD oh mygosh. it was gone in like 20 seconds flat between us. hahaha


this cheese and citrus honey crispy puff was not so too my taste, i think the cheese was too strong, but it was interesting to try anyway

pageant reflections

Pageant is finally over!!!

quite glad it is over, and of course it is an experience that has left me with lots of reflections


and even though there's all the cliche about pageants being lame and contestants being stupid, i must say it's really an eye opening experience.

The whole process has taken quite a few months, and it's been quite a long and tiring journey. I'm still glad that i did it, and finished up the whole thing without quitting halfway. One thing off my checklist of To Dos!


With the other girls, I attended paintball, dance, grooming class, surfing and of course a whole lot of media events. It is quite an experience to constantly be filmed, photographed and interviewed. Although it is very stressful to constantly be watched and not sure when an unglam shot is caught. and i'm just a tiny fry in a small pageant. i can't imagine how those celebrities must feel.

I also met a lot of new people, some directly, like the other girls in the pageant and some indirectly, like photographers asking for shoots, random friend requests and messages and other people in this entertainment circle.

I learnt that money + connections = power. haha, pageants are very realistic. there's nothing wrong with it though, cos it's explicitly a profit making show, and so of course, i understand why.  it's just interesting to be in it and witness all the politics firsthand.



For me, one experience is enough i think. For now at least (:  had my fun and i'm done!

i'm currently banned from joining anymore pageants. hahaha, and anyway i dont think i want to do another right now.

but i won't say for sure in the future!

tried out with another guy yesterday, always feels like blind dating lol.

it was alright, he's a decent dancer, just not really sure what i want. haha, i want to dance, but feel quite discouraged and tired to try and start again. so i asked him to give me a week to think about it. also cos my mum is alrd angry about pageant (yea they found out), and she doesn't allow me to dance.

and dance and pageant has so muchhhh politics. its so horrible, have to think very carefully before i say anything to anyone. sigh. and won't even bother trying to explain it to anyone outside dance. haha, they prob wont get it anw.

had pageant obligations yest and went to the SEA children and beauty festival. the kids were so cute and they put up a great show. haha, there was a cute latin dancer girl! 

pageant finals are this sat and after that it will be over.

end of the week!

thursday's pizza outing with the boys was cancelled, so i actually went home early! haha

friday i met up with dearest lil sis to go shopping and have dinner.

city hall was majorly jammed that day! the queues were stretching so long just to get into the train

haha in the end, we bought one pair of prom heels, and one pair of americaya wedges each :0

cos it was 25% discount, and i love americaya for comfort. haha



Saturday, i went dancing to prac for pageant dance.  a really big thanks to S if he sees this, for being so accommodating and helping me with the dance lol.

and we tried out lil sis's prom makeup (: all my friends say she's so prettyyy and i think so too (: but she refuses to let me post any more pics on her until prom is over. so you'll just have to wait till mon to see how gorgeous she looks! (:

halfway through the week!

On Monday, i went to AnA to visit my dance teachers! (: danced with ex partner a little, but didn't bring shoes, so got toe burns haha


Tuesday, went out to meet W. (: we went to clarke quay and had dinner at Chillis!

he had an awesomepossum big chilli burger!

W just got engaged to his LDR gf of 2 years, so i was very intrigued by what he had to say. He gave me three pieces of advice

1. Establish routines and rituals, because when you can't see each other face to face and do spontaneous things, the only thing that reminds you of your rship is when you have routines to hold on to.

2. Communicate. Every relationship needs communication, and especially so when LDR is all about communicating. Even when you're angry, you have to talk.

3. Try to include your partner in daily activities. even simple things like sending a pic of what you're eating, telling them where you're going, helps you stay connected through out the day and keeps your partner involved in your life.

but he said, LDR is something he wouldn't wish on his worst enemy. haha i have to agree.

quite a good time out spent,  learnt a lot about working world, and rships from him. hahah


Wednesday, which is today, i went to C's farewell get together with the rest of the dancers. just got back sort of. really sleepy!!! haha

eventful weekend with Z!

Woohoo!! Z just taught me how to use photobucket to host my pictures i think! hahah

i forgot where i last updated till, but every single day has been a crazy marathon for me. morning till nighttt!! tiredd!!

so last tuesday Z touched down in Singapore finally!! (:

 
we had soup spoon, which was a lil off that day. it wasn't that great although it usually tastes muchhh better!!

i can't remember much cept that Z went off to malaysia about 4 hours later, so it was like waiting all year for a Christmas present, and then being told that you have to return it a couple days later... :/ quite depressing.

but its okayy cos he came down on friday-sunday! (:

FRIDAY

We had tea at Antoinette on friday morning, which was awesome cos of the ambience, and Antoinette always has awesome food (:

we ordered a lovely breakfast set to share (:


hot chocolate which was sooo rich and yummyyy

after which we basically shopped around orchard area (:

We headed to clarke quay at night for dinner, went to a really cool japanese place!

SATURDAY

went to look for z around lunch time and we had thai!



haha it was surprisingly not too bad!

oh and we got caught in a terrible downpour after that, and we were drenched running around looking for a cab! i was relatively amused though, and it was fun to run in the rain together, hahah ((:

we had macarons as a treat!



we headed to his hostel place to get clean shirts, and we went to east coast for dinner !

the pictures are bad so i won't put them up, but it is a lovely bistro at eastcoastpark called 5 drunken rabbits.

i loved the breeze and the really chill atmosphere where we could just chit chat, and of course, take a stroll after dinner. it was pretty awesome. quite an eventful day!

i have to say that when ur with someone you enjoy spending time with, time flies really quick! and although the time we had together was so short, it makes it all the more precious i suppose, and all that matters is that we had fun, and we laughed a lot! (: he always makes me laughhh (: haha

SUNDAY 

sunday was pre judging for pageant. so i had a quick lunch with Z and headed off to sentosa wavehouse while he met up with the boys for a guys movies outing.

Anyway, I had free shoes worth 160 dollars sponsored by riccino, as well as 2 dresses sponsored by love bonito :D i was relatively pleased. hahaha


I LOVE THE SHOES. seriously comfortable and they look really nice toooo (: they're like made of suede so its comfy although its 5 inch heels !

i've never had such nice shoes in my life haha



pre judging was okay, i wasn't really nervous, so i think i did passably okay. didn't embarrass myself and that's all that matters. haha, too many camera flashes gave me a huge headache though, and i was really blinded for a while, and my smile was pretty frozen too. hahaha
